This striking property is the realisation of the dreams of one man: Lord Tollemache, MP for Cheshire. He built Britain''s grandest folly between 1844 and 1851. Standing atop a wooded hillside, its dramatic silhouette can be seen for miles across Cheshire. Today this magnificent building is the only Grade I listed Medieval castle in the UK. Privately owned, it comprises of 48 recently refurbished en suite bedrooms and the new Falconry Encounter, home to a Golden Eagle.

With a Spanish-style tapas restaurant, a bar and spacious rooms with good views and free Wi-Fi, The Jug and Bottle is located in Heswall, on the Wirral Peninsula.
